Places to go in Clearwater, FL
Sand Key Park
Sand Key Park, located south of Clearwater, is a great place to visit if you’re looking for a relaxing, family-friendly beach near Tampa Bay. This 95-acre beach park has plenty of spots for a picnic and nature watching. This lovely park serves as both a park and a beach, with white sand, a boardwalk, and a nature trail for tourists to enjoy. You may see sea turtles breeding on the beach if you arrive at the proper time of year. So if you’re hoping to see Florida wildlife or simply want to swim and tan, this is the place to go. There are two portions to this lovely Clearwater park: a big sandy beach and a park. Two picnic areas with shade, grills, picnic tables, drinking fountains, a bathroom, and a children’s playground are available at the park. A dedicated dog park is also available. A salt marsh with chairs where people may relax and watch birds is a popular site in the park where visitors may see herons, anhingas, roseate spoonbills, great horned owls, and common moorhens hatch and feed. Sea turtle nests can also be seen on the shore. Because many sea turtle species are endangered, the Clearwater Marine Aquarium maintains track of the turtles’ visits and the number of eggs they lay. The park is also the starting point for a project to create an artificial reef in the Gulf. Previous guests raved about how much fun it was to spend the day at Sand Key Park, listing the playground and adjoining dog park as highlights. Others claimed that the beach’s modest waves are perfect for all levels of surfers. The park’s biggest feature, according to most, is its absence of crowds. On-site amenities include cabana and kayak rentals, as well as showers, bathhouses, and public bathrooms. You may also utilize barbecues to prepare your own cuisine. The park, which is less than 3 miles south of Pier 60, is open to the public from 7 a.m. and is free to visit every day till sundown. It’s the perfect spot to go away without going away since it’s a clean, serene sanctuary nestled within the rush and bustle of Clearwater Beach. With a stunning white-sand beach and a dog-friendly park in the same location, it’s the ultimate experience. Sand Key provides complimentary beach wheelchairs to handicapped people, which are simpler to use on the sand and float in the water.
